Private 60309 HENRY J CHITTY of 101 Company Labour Corps died of his wounds on 12 May 1918.

He is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen. Many of the men buried in this cemetery died of illness or wounds in the numerous hospitals around Rouen. Until April 1917 101 company had been the 34th battalion of the Royal Fusiliers.

He is remembered on the memorial at the church of St Michael and All Angels, Sydenham.

He was the son of Louis and Elizabeth Chitty, of 31, Elderton Road, Lower Sydenham.
