Chatterton, Henry Montague Newnham

War Service:
Second Lieutenant HAROLD MONTAGUE NEWNHAM CHATTERTON of 9th battalion The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) died on 18 June 1916, aged 20. He was gassed at Wyteschaete on 17 June and died in hospital the next day. He was appointed to the Queens as a temporary second lieutenant on 26 August 1915 from the London University Officer Training Corps.

He is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at Christ Church, Forest Hill.

Details:
He was the son of Montague Saxton Chatterton and Edith Lucy Chatterton, of "Highlands," Redhill, Surrey. He was born in Sanderstead.
