Sergeant 1640 FREDERICK HARRY CHAMPION MM of 22nd (County of London) Battalion (The Queen's) London Regiment was killed in action at Flers on 4 October 1916. He enlisted on 7 August 1914 and went to France on 10 March 1915. He had seen action at Givenchy, Festubert, Loos and Hulluch and at the time of his death was Acting Company Sergeant Major.

He is buried and remembered in Warlincourt British cemetery.

He is remembered on the memorial at the parish church of St Mary, Lewisham.

Details:
He was born in West Wickham on 24 June 1889 and lived in Lewisham. He was educated at Plassey Road School.
