Chaffer, Arthur Thomas


War Service:
Lance Corporal C/14158 ARTHUR THOMAS CHAFFER of 7th Battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) was the son of Elizabeth Chaffer of 24, Eckington Gardens, New Cross. On 2 November 1918 he was repatriated from France with gunshot wounds to the left thigh to No.4 London General Hospital at Denmark Hill. He died there at 9.30am on 16 November 1918.

Location of Memorial:
He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

When he was attested in Deptford on 8 November 1916 at the age of 17 years and 7 months he gave his occupation as cartridge filler.
