Brooke, Geoffrey Lionel

War Service:
Private 51203 GEOFFREY LIONEL BROOKE of 1st battalion Worcestershire Regiment died on 3 September 1918.

He is buried in Niederzwehren Cemetery near Kassel. In 1922 it was decided that the graves of Commonwealth servicemen who had died all over Germany should be brought together into four permanent cemeteries. Niederzwehren was one of those chosen and in the following four years, more than 1,500 graves were brought into the cemetery from 190 burial grounds.

He is remembered on the memorial at St Augustine’s church, Grove Park.

Details:
He was born in Marlborough, Wilts in the spring of 1899. He was the son of Joshua and Florence Brooke, of "Craythorne," Grove Park, Lee.
