Sergeant 630989 Alfred John Bright was killed in action on 6 July 1917 age 34 while serving with "B" Company, 20 Battalion of the London Regiment.

His grave lies in Enclosure no.4 of Bedford House Cemetery, Iepers, Belgium where he is remembered.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorials at St Andrew's Church Catford, Hither Green School and on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour. He is also remembered on the memorial at All Saints Church Staplehurst.

Details:
He was the son of William and Jane Bright of Staplehurst Kent and the husband of Emily Bright of 172 Verdant Lane Catford. He was a schoolmaster at Hither Green School.
