Brett, Alfred Richard

Dates: 1896-1915

War Service: Alfred Richard Brett served as a Private with the 6th Battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) and his service number was G/898. He died on 8th October 1915, aged 19, and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the St Pauls, Deptford WW1 War Memorial.

Details: Alfred Richard Brett, born on 21st May 1896, was the son of Alfred and Elizabeth Brett. He was baptised on 5th July 1896 at Christ Church, Deptford and at this time his family were living at 5 Douglas Street, Deptford.

On the 1911 census he was recorded living at Coronation Square, Lydd with his widowed grandfather and he was employed as a golf caddy. In 1911 his parents were living at 19 Mornington Road, Deptford with his siblings Elizabeth, William, Alice, John, Ellen and May.
