Second Lieutenant STANLEY WARD BOWES was killed in action at the Hoenzollern Redoubt on 29 September 1915, aged 25. He was commissioned into the 3rd battalion of the Dorsetshire Regiment from the University of London Officer Training Corps on 12 March 1915. At the time of his death he was attached to the 3rd battalion of the Royal Fusiliers.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at the Private Banks Cricket and Athletic Club in Catford. His name also appears in the University of London OTC Roll of War Service 1914-19.

Details:
He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs. Bowes of St. Margarets, Meadvale, Redhill, Surrey. He was educated at Emmanuel School, Wandsworth. He had worked for the Home Office, Coutts Bank and the Commonwealth of Australia.
