Lieutenant ALAN BOWEN of the 8th Battalion, Manchester Regiment was reported in The Times of 19 August 1915 as wounded and missing on 7 August 1915. The battalion had arrived in the Dardanelles on 6 May.

He has no known gave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.

The Helles Memorial takes the form of an obelisk 30 metres high standing on the tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula. It serves as the battle memorial for the whole Gallipoli campaign and place of commemoration for many of those Commonwealth servicemen who died there and have no known grave.

He is remembered on the memorial at St Bartholomew’s church, Sydenham.
