At the time of his death he was a second lieutenant in the 2nd/5th Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers. He died 20 November 1917, aged 33.
He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.

He is remembered on the memorial at Catford police station.
Details:
He married Winifred Daisy Hall in Lewisham in the summer of 1911. They lived at 101 Kilmorie Road, Forest Hill and he served as a police constable at Camberwell and Sydenham.
