Driver 955687 DOUGLAS BONTER of ‘B’ Battery, 236 Brigade, Royal Field Artillery was wounded in action on 29 September 1917 and died of his wounds in No. 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station on 3 October.

He is buried and remembered in Outtersteene Communal cemetery, Bailleul.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial in the church of St Mary the Virgin, Lewisham.

Details:
He was the son of Reginald William Bonter and lived at 35 Millbrook Road, Brixton. The family had previously lived in Brockley. His brother Louis died of wounds on 3 August 1918.
