Lance Corporal 1478 HERBERT BAXENDALE of 20th (Blackheath and Woolwich) battalion, London Regiment died on 17 September 1916, aged 24.
He is buried and remembered in Dernancourt Communal Cemetery near Albert.

He is remembered on the war memorial at Goldsmiths College, New Cross where he worked in the Training Department and also on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour.
Details:
He was the son of William Baxendale, of 51, Shrewsbury Rd., Bolton, Lancs and lived in Blackheath.
