War Service:
CHARLES JOHN BATES was injured was injured on 16 August 1944 in an air raid on the Royal Victoria Victualling Yard in Deptford. He died later the same day in the Miller Hospital, Greenwich.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial near the gates of the former Royal Victoria Victualling Yard, Deptford.

He was 40. He was the husband of Dorothy Bates of 105 Castlecombe Road, Mottingham.
