Captain WILLIAM EDWARD DURRANT BARRETT MM of 91 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery died on 26 November 1943.
The award of the Military Medal was announced in the London Gazette of 23 August 1940 while he was serving as a temporarily promoted lance sergeant.

He is buried in the Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy.

He is remembered on the memorial to 91 and 139 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery in St Swithun’s church, Hither Green.

Details:
He was 41, the son of William Thomas Barrett and Kate Elizabeth Barrett and husband of Ida Barrett of Sevenoaks. They married in Brentford in the summer of 1937.
