Second Lieutenant PHILLIP BARNETT of 4th battalion Middlesex Regiment died on 2 July 1916, aged 25. The London Gazette of 29 May 1916 announced that he had been commissioned as a second lieutenant and posted to the Middlesex Regiment from the West Yorkshire Regiment with effect from 7 May.

He is buried in Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-la- Boisselle.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the Dover Virtual War Memorial and on the memorial at the South East London Synagogue, New Cross.

Details:
He was the son of Hyam and Kate Barnett, of London and husband of Violet Barnett, of 34, Maison Dieu Rd., Dover. They married in Greenwich in the summer of 1913.
