Rifleman 2285 NORMAN BAKER of 8th Battalion, London Regiment (Post Office Rifles) died on 24 May 1915 during the battle for Festubert.

He is buried in Post Office Rifles Cemetery, Festubert.

Post Office Rifles Cemetery was used in April-June 1915, before and during the Battles of Aubers Ridge and Festubert. It then contained 40 graves, of which 38 belonged to the London Regiment (chiefly the 8th Battalion).

He is also remembered on the memorial at St Bartholomew’s church, Sydenham.

Details:
He was born in Sydenham . At the time of his death he was 24. He was the son of Henry Francis and Elizabeth Baker, of 74, Haynt Walk, Merton Park.
