DONALD CHARLES BAIN was killed on the night of 19 March 1941 in an air raid on the Royal Victoria Victualling Yard in Deptford.

He was 43 and worked for the Admiralty as a labourer. He was the husband of Mrs Alice Bain of 6 Hathway Street, Nunhead. He was posthumously awarded the King’s Commendation for Brave Conduct for his work that night. The award was announced in the London Gazette of 27 May 1941.
