War Service:

Sergeant EDWARD CHARLES ASHTON of 1st battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) died of wounds on 5 October 1914.

He is buried in Le Mans West Cemetery.

He is remembered on the war memorial at St Hilda’s church, Brockley

He was 25 years old, the son of Mrs. Florence R. Ashton, of 38A, Buxton Rd., Leytonstone Rd., Stratford. He was born in Peckham.
