Stoker 1st Class ALFRED ANSELL of Hood Battalion, Royal Naval Division died on 6 May 1915, aged 36.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial in Gallipoli.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial at St John’s church, Lewisham Way and on the South Metropolitan Gasworks World War 1 memorial in Greenwich.

Details:
He was a veteran of the South African War. He was the son of Benjamin Ansell and husband of Mary Jean Ansell of 64, Friendly St., St. John's.
