Second Lieutenant ARTHUR WELLESLEY ADKIN of the 20th ( Blackheath & Woolwich) Battalion London Regiment was killed in action on 3 June 1917, aged 22.

He is buried and remembered in Chester Farm Cemetery near Ypres.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at St Augustine’s Church, Grove Park, on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour and on the Blackheath Proprietary School Roll of Honour.

Details:
He was the son of John G and Lizzy Adkin of “Claverdon”, Grove Park, who had lived at 107 Burnt Ash Hill. Arthur attended Blackheath Proprietary School from May 1906 until 1907.
