At the bottom of the brass plaque that gives details of the unveiling ceremony are the words
“In God No Call Can Be Too Clamorous
No Test Too Severe.
On Valour”

Beneath the brass plaque is carved
“Greater Love Hath No Man Than This
In Memoriam

The names are inscribed on panels immediately beneath the memorial inscription to Lt. Hugh Nelson and further 2 side panels.

Unveiled by the Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of London, Col. Sir W.H. Dunn Bart. 22 April, 1917. Memorial service by the Rev. J. W. Niven.
