1944

Sept. 17, (+/- 19.52 hours) Battery 444, Walcheren, Serooskerke, Vrederust, V-2 rocket fired, impacted Lewisham. 14 Dead, 41 seriously injured. 7 Houses demolished. Recorded in the Civil Defence records as Adelaide and Eastern Avenues and Ladywell Road at 18.55 Post B24 “believed to be a FLY” later marked LRR. 6 Dead and 30 wounded. Oct. 27, (23.40 hours) Battery 444, Site 164, V-2 rocket fired, impacted on waste ground in Lewisham. Slight damage. 1 Person seriously injured. Recorded in the Civil Defence records as 23.45 post F93 “unknown” Baring Road, Summersfield Street, Ronver Road, Lee, Ref Lewisham File 311/S/1 [missing]
Oct. 28, (11.07 hours) Battery 444, V-2 rocket fired, impacted Gurney Street, Liadert Grove, Deptford, Pagnell Street, Brockley and Railway Grove, New Cross. 7 Dead, 35 seriously injured and 22 slightly injured. 7 Properties demolished. Rocket disintegrated before impact. Ref Deptford Incident 2377 4 LR, 2 HR, 1 light FA, 13 Ambulance, 1 CWD 3 cranes, dogs and 1 Canteen sent.
Oct. 28, (+/-18.15 hours) Battery 444, V-2 rocket fired, impacted Camberwell (airburst). Some fragments fell in neighbouring Deptford. Ref Deptford Incident 2376
Nov. 01, (18.26 hours) Battery 444, Den Haag, Site 47 N of Waterpartij (Scheveningse Bosjes), V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 18.32 either Shardeloes Road, Brockley (31 dead, 63 seriously injured and 108 slightly injured, 18 houses demolished) or Wanstead (open land, no damage or casualties). Ref Lewisham File 312/G/1-3 [missing] Deptford Incident 2378.Water, Gas, Electricity and sewers were all damaged. 6 LR, 7 HR 2 Light FA, 1 heavy FA 12 Ambulances 1 crane and 1 canteen were sent.
Nov. 02, (10.00 hours) Battery 444, Den Haag, Site 69 (Scheveningen), V-2 rocket fired, impacted approx. 10.15 Sydenham Station Area, Lewisham (airburst). Ref Lewisham File 312/W/1 [missing]
Nov. 03, (04.35 hours) Battery 444, Loosduinen (Site 19), V-2 rocket fired, impacted St Mildred’s Road Lee and fell on railway sidings at 04.35 Hither Green. 20 Rail wagons wrecked, tracks displaced. 1 Person seriously injured. Recorded in the Civil Defence records as Ref Lewisham File 312/S/1 [missing] with 6 Injured and small fire controlled by NFS.
Nov. 15, (12.45 hours) Battery 444, Den Haag, Site 47 N of Waterpartij (Scheveningse Bosjes), V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 12.57 Stondon Park/Maclean Road, Kilgour Road, Brockley. Direct hit on houses. 11 Dead, 45 seriously injured. 15 Properties demolished. Ref Lewisham File 313/W/1 [missing] 3 Dead and 53 injured, so presumably 8 of the injured died later of their injuries and number were made homeless 107 Grierson Road.
Nov. 25, (12.21 hours) Battery 444, (Site 73), V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 12.27 Deptford. Direct hit on Woolworth Store, New Cross Road 160 Dead, 135 seriously injured. Some of the casualties were on a passing bus that was caught in the blast. Dec. 10, (04.45 hours) Battery 444, (Site 97), V-2 rocket fired, impacted Hafton Road J/O Hazelbank . 10 Dead, 27 seriously injured. 6 Properties demolished. Ref Lewisham File 314/S/1 [missing] 20 injured, with some trapped and fire and cranes and dogs used.
Dec. 12, (05.10 hours) Battery 444, (Site 22), V-2 rocket fired, impacted Greenwich. Direct hit on school. 1 Dead, 2 seriously injured. School severely damaged. Morden Terrace School was on the north side of Albion Hill at the junction of Lewisham Road, in the borough of Greenwich. Having been destroyed by bombing during the Second World War.
Dec. 15, (04.00 hours) Battery 444, Hoek van Holland, V-2 rocket fired, impacted Chislehurst. Direct hit on house. 1 Dead, 14 seriously injured. 5 Properties demolished. This has been recorded as Chislehurst but fell in Jevington Way, Grove Park
Dec. 19, (23.20 hours) Battery 444, Wassenaar, Duindigt, V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 23.27 **Boveney Road, Forest Hill and Devonshire Road and Honor Oak Park. 13 Seriously injured. Ref Lewisham File 315/W/1 [missing] 9 injured and trapped. Telephone wires down using 6929. Casualties sent to Fairlawn Hospital.

3 Jan Sportsground, Ewhurst Road, Catford Fly Landed at 20.14 Ref Lewisham File 316/W/1 [missing] 5 Casualties to Lewisham Hospital. Food shop damaged. Only rocket launched that day was, Jan. 03, (20.25 hours) - Battery 444, Hoek van Holland, V-2 rocket fired (impact unknown).
Jan. 06, (13.37 hours) Battery 444, Den Haag, Site 47 N of Waterpartij (Scheveningse Bosjes), V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 13.47 Kitto Road opposite Waller Road, in Telegraph Hill Park, Deptford. 22 Persons seriously injured and 40 slightly. 3 Properties severely damaged. Ref Deptford Incident 2381.water main was damaged. 6LR, 2 HR, 1 light FA, 1 Heavy FA, 12 Ambulances,, 1 car and 1 canteen were sent.
Jan. 08, (12.08 hours) Battery 444, Wassenaar, Site 74 (Duindigt - Rennbahn), V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 12.14 Lewisham Charlcote Grove/ Kirkdale. Fell in grounds of school. Serious blast damage to school buildings and houses. 15 Persons seriously injured. Ref Lewisham File 317/W/1 [missing] 17 injured.
Jan. 09, (19.24 hours) Battery 444, Den Haag, Site 47 N of Waterpartij (Scheveningse Bosjes), V-2 rocket fired, impacted Adolphus Street and Idonia Street, Deptford. 20 Dead, 47 seriously injured. 8 Properties demolished. Ref Deptford Incident 2382.
Jan. 14, (16.08 hours) Battery 444, Den Haag, Site 47 N of Waterpartij (Scheveningse Bosjes), V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 16.15 Panmure Road/Kirkdale, Sydenham, Lewisham. Direct hit on house. 14 Dead, 36 seriously injured. 4 Properties demolished. Ref Lewisham File 318/W/1 [missing] 2 dead and 20 injured also 2 dead and 17 injured marked (s). Some were trapped and there was a fire.
Jan. 23, (08.35 hours) Batt. 1./485, Loosduinen (Site 19), V-2 rocket fired, impacted Lewisham. Fell at 8.40 in Hither Green Cemetery Verdant Lane, Waters Road, Crutchley Road. 7 Persons injured. Ref Lewisham File 319/S/1 [missing] 12 injured. Crater in Cemetery.
Feb. 02, (08.02 hours) Batt. 3./485 (Art. Reg. 3./902), Den Haag, V-2 rocket fired, impacted Finland Road and Revelon Road, Deptford. 34 Dead, 52 injured. Ref Deptford Incident 2382. There is a gap in entries at this time in Deptford log, possibly this incident?
Feb. 11, (21.53 hours) Batt. 3./485 (Art. Reg. 3./902), Den Haag, V-2 rocket fired, impacted Marnock Road, Crofton Park and Brockley Grove Lewisham. Direct hit on house. 14 Dead, 69 injured. Ref Lewisham File 320/W/1 [missing] 30 injured.
Mar. 03, (12.13 hours) Batt. 1./485 (Art. Reg. 1./902), Den Haag, Statenkwartier, V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 12.20 Royal Victoria Yard, Deptford 1 person seriously injured and 10 had minor injuries. 2 ambulances were sent. Ref Deptford Incident 2384.
Mar. 07, (03.15 hours) Batt. 3./485 (Art. Reg. 3./902), Den Haag, Haagse Bos, V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 03.23 Folkestone Gardens and Trundley's Road, Deptford. 52 Dead. Ref Deptford Incident 2386.Lewisham File 321/G/8 [missing]. Control van, mobile canteen HR and LR sent.
Mar. 08, (12.01 hours) Batt. 1./485 (Art. Reg. 1./902), Den Haag, Statenkwartier, V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 12.06 Blackheath Village, Wemyss Road, Montpelier Vale and Tranquil Vale, Lewisham. 5 Dead. Ref Lewisham File 321/N/1 [missing] 3 killed and 50 injured [so some must of died of their injuries later.
Mar. 11, (20.00 hours) Batt. 3./485 (Art. Reg. 3./902), Den Haag, V-2 rocket fired, impacted at 20.05 Wickham Road and Wickham Gardens, Deptford. 9 Dead. Ref Deptford Incident 2387 Lewisham File 322/G/1 [missing] HR parties and Ambulance sent.
