This project is to record all of the War Memorials in the current London Borough of Lewisham area [which includes the former Metropolitan Boroughs of Lewisham and Deptford only]. This Wiki contains the findings of the project so far and is based on the work the of volunteers. The initial information was generously donated by Paul Dyer. A regional volunteer with the UK National Inventory of War Memorials and this was a copy of his research for them. Then a Local History and Archives Centre, Lewisham volunteer Ann O'Brien has worked on this material to produce the foundations of this wiki.
This is an ongoing project and will eventually list all the memorials and details of the people commemorated on them. The information will include, any names, pictures, location [with maps], news cuttings and histories. All the information provided will be added to the Borough archives. We will be recording all the memorials in the current London Borough of Lewisham area to ensure they survive for the use of future generations.
